The Magnetic Leadership® Series – a series of eight hands-on workshops developing essential leadership skills. Highly recommended to be done as a series, though a-la-carte is also possible. Custom bundles available.
The keynotes spark the conversation. The workshops do the work.
The Magnetic Leadership® Series is Dr. Bev's deep-dive curriculum for organizations ready to develop the kind of leaders who attract, energize, and keep the best people. It's where the ideas from the keynotes — emotional control, purpose, communication, conflict resolution, change leadership — turn into actual habits, actual conversations, and actual leadership muscle.
Any program below can stand alone. But the series produces its strongest results when delivered as a sequence over 8-12 months, with reinforcement and coaching between sessions. That's just the truth about adult learning. Skills get built in repetition, not in a single workshop and a binder.
When delivered as a series, Dr. Bev serves as ongoing consultant to the organization's executives, with personal leadership coaching available where appropriate. The programs work especially well for current managers, prospective managers, and team leaders — the people whose decisions ripple across whole departments.
You Reproduce What You Are: Managing Your Emotions, Managing Yourself
The title says it all. The way leaders manage themselves shapes everything around them — the morale, the performance, the unspoken values, what the team believes is actually okay around here (regardless of what the inspirational poster on the wall says).
True leadership isn't established by a title on the door. It happens when someone is clear about what matters most, aligns their emotions and behavior with how they get there, and is credible enough that others want to join in. Real leaders are real people, with real emotions and real struggles — but with the depth to manage them and put them to work in service of something worth doing.
This foundational workshop challenges leaders to work on themselves with even more diligence than they "work on" the people around them. Participants will:
Speaking Their Language, Hearing Their Hearts: How to Communicate Clearly and Persuasively
Communication is the most-discussed and least-implemented leadership skill, hands down. People who think they communicate well usually mean they talk a lot, which is not the same thing. Real communication is two-way, and most leaders are stronger on the sending end than the receiving one.
This workshop raises leaders' awareness of how communication shapes every working relationship and every result they're trying to get. Through real-world scenarios and honest practice, participants will:
From Team Cop to Team Coach: How to Develop Employees for Champion Performance
The success of any coach is defined by the success of the team. Winning team, winning coach. Losing team, losing coach. It's that simple and that humbling.
Winning teams are made of people who are placed in roles that emphasize their strengths, who are hungry for meaningful goals, who keep developing through practice and real feedback, and who know how to bounce back after setbacks. Building that kind of team is the central skill of leadership, and it's a coaching skill, not a policing one. This workshop equips leaders to make that shift. Participants will learn:
From Conflict to Collaboration: How to Eradicate Undercurrents, Defuse Explosions, and Lead Toward Real Solutions
Unresolved conflict doesn't go away; it just changes addresses. It shows up as avoidance, sarcasm, gossip, withholding, hostile tones, ongoing "contests," and the occasional blow-up. It eats time, energy, customer service, and good people.
The skilled leader plays three roles in any conflict environment: they model effective resolution by handling their own conflicts directly and respectfully; they coach the team in skills that turn conflict into a team-strengthener instead of a team-killer; and when needed, they mediate — sitting down with the people involved and walking them toward a real win-win agreement.
This workshop prepares leaders for all three. Participants will:
Leading in the Uncertainty of Organizational Transitions: How to Help Team Members Regain Their Emotional Footing and Engage to Achieve Results
Failing to plan for the emotional side of change is the surest way to sabotage the change itself. New leadership, mergers, downsizing, restructuring, even just "a new way of doing things" — every one of them lands as a kind of loss. And loss brings the predictable cast of characters: anger, anxiety, fear, depression, and yes, grief. All of which directly affect people's ability to commit, follow through, and actually do the new thing.
How a leader introduces the change, frames the why, involves the team, and acknowledges their disorientation makes the difference between a six-month transition and an eighteen-month one. This must-have workshop builds the transition leadership skills that save time, headaches, and money. Participants will:
Working with the Working Wounded: How to Deal with Exhausted, Burning-Out Employees
One of the hardest jobs in leadership is dealing with employees in emotional upheavals — simmering anger, depression, addiction, destructive patterns, and burnout. These don't stay neatly in someone's personal life. They spill into performance, into team dynamics, into defensiveness to feedback, and occasionally into the kind of incidents that make HR's hair stand on end.
The skillful leader knows how to recognize what's happening, relate to a struggling employee with compassion, and provide the right kind of help — while still making sure the work gets done. Not easy, but doable. In this session, leaders will:
Play on Their Strengths: Building a High-Performing Team
If teams are going to function at their best, the diverse talents and styles of the people on them have to be blended, capitalized on, and genuinely appreciated. When that doesn't happen, you get simmering conflicts, wasted talent, and the kind of dimmed motivation that's almost impossible to reignite. When it does happen, teams accomplish things no individual star could pull off alone. (Harmony, after all, means different notes blending beautifully.)
This workshop opens leaders' eyes to the impact of differing communication styles, personalities, values, and gifts and gives them realistic ways to build synergy among them. Participants will:
Looking Back to Move Forward: Performance Evaluations That Actually Make a Performance Difference
Most managers are required to do performance reviews. Almost no one — manager or employee — looks forward to them. Procrastination, avoidance, faulty memory, dread of delivering bad news, and outright errors in judgment have made performance evaluations one of the most universally-dreaded events in working life. And to add insult to injury, when they finally finish, the typical reaction is "thank goodness that's over" — followed by exactly zero impact on actual performance.
When leaders implement the skills from this workshop (and its prerequisite, From Team Cop to Team Coach), the performance evaluation becomes something different entirely: a true development interview that motivates the employee, improves performance, and strengthens the relationship. Participants will learn:

Anger Danger in the Workplace — a working session built around how leaders can apply the principles in Bev’s book, All the Rage, to replace conflict with collaboration. They will explore the four styles of anger (Blow Up, Bottle Up, Bubble Up, and Open Up) and how to move disgruntled people toward constructive, open communication. They’ll learn how to keep their cool and respond when others get hot. Teams leave with a shared language and practical tools for dealing with the inevitable conflicts that occur at work and home.
Caregiving Conversations — a counseling-conversation framework that equips helpers of all kinds for compassionate, growth-producing conversations with those they are serving. Practical communication tools for doctors, nurses, ministers, and caregivers of all kinds. Grounded in clinical practice and built for impactful communications.
Back from Burnout – for the helpers, leaders, and high-capacity people who've been running on empty for too long and are ready for a way out. In this workshop, Dr. Bev helps you recognize the real signs of burnout, understand what's quietly driving it, and recover the energy, clarity, and purpose that brought you to your work in the first place. You'll leave with practical tools to restore your reserves, set healthier rhythms, and protect what matters most so you can keep showing up for others without losing yourself in the process.
The Crucibles of Leadership: Precious Gifts in Disguise. Every leader eventually faces a crucible — a season of pressure, loss, or crisis so intense that it threatens to break you. But just as fire purifies precious metal, burning away what's impure and leaving what's strongest, these experiences have the power to refine character, sharpen judgment, and forge the kind of leader smoother seasons could never produce.
This program walks leaders through the recognizable stages of a professional crucible — the disorientation, the deep questioning, the eventual reorientation. You’ll apply the four pillars of post-traumatic growth: heal with hope, cope with confidence, live with purpose, and lead with wisdom. This program equips leaders with the frameworks, language, and practical tools to not only survive what you're walking through, but to emerge stronger, wiser, and more deeply grounded in your purpose. You'll leave with a clearer understanding of the leader you've been becoming all along, the one you might never have met in easier times, and a path forward to lead your teams with that same hard-won wisdom.
